Academic background Graduated in American Studies from Nottingham University in 1989 and was awarded his Master's degree in American Studies at the Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA in 1991. Worked for 9 years in hostel/ housing management and the provision of support services to homeless people. From 1999 to 2001 studied at the Nottingham Law School and obtained a post graduate Diploma in Law in 2000. Called to the Bar in 2001. Became a tenant at St. Mary’s Chambers in 2003 following successful completion of a specialist Family Law pupillage.
