Graduated in American Studies from Nottingham University in 1989 and was awarded his Master's degree in American Studies at the Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA in 1991. Worked for 9 years in hostel/ housing management and the provision of support services to homeless people. From 1999 to 2001 studied at the Nottingham Law School and obtained a post graduate Diploma in Law in 2000. Called to the Bar in 2001. Became a tenant at St. Mary’s Chambers in 2003 following successful completion of a specialist Family Law pupillage.
