Professional Background

Mary graduated with a History degree from the University of Leicester. In 2014 she was awarded a ‘Merit’ in the GDL from the University of the West of England and received a GDL scholarship from Gray’s Inn. In 2015 Mary achieved a ‘Very Competent’ grade in the BPTC at BPP Law School and was awarded the Albion Richardson scholarship from Gray’s Inn. Mary was called to the Bar in 2015 and was selected to represent Gray’s Inn on a debating tour of American universities.

In 2015-2016, Mary worked as a Senior Legal Assistant for Wiltshire Council in the Child Care team dealing with public law proceedings, adoption matters and the local authority’s involvement in private law proceedings.

In the year prior to commencing pupillage, Mary worked as a paralegal in the matrimonial department at Farrer & Co where she dealt with ancillary relief and private law children cases predominantly involving high net worth individuals.

In 2018, Mary was awarded the Ann Goddard scholarship for pupils undertaking publicly funded work.
