Overview

A professional yet approachable advocate, Lorna is experienced in all areas of Family Law. Being personable yet realistic, Lorna is experienced in dealing with vulnerable clients and emotionally heightened cases.

Lorna graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Leicester in 2014. She was awarded the Duke of Edinburgh Award and a Major Exhibitioner Award from the Inner Temple in 2016 and went on to complete the BPTC in Leeds. Lorna was called to the Bar in 2017.

Prior to commencing a family specialist pupillage with St Mary’s, Lorna was a conveyancing lawyer for a national property firm. She then went on to be an in-house advocate for a multinational law firm representing professional clients in civil matters.

Lorna maintains good connections with her college and university and regularly participates in judging competitions and providing advice for people intending to pursue a legal career. Lorna is currently mentoring university students who wish to pursue a career at the bar.

Recent cases

Lorna provided advice to a wife seeking maintenance pending suit and on the basis of her advice, the husband accepted the figure proposed the day before the MPS hearing. Consequently, Lorna then secured a substantial costs order against the husband at the hearing.

Lorna represented a sperm-donor seeking contact with a child that he was biological father of. The sperm-donor had previously had contact with the child which was then ceased by the Mothers, Lorna assisted the client in securing regular contact with the child.

Lorna represented grandparents who were the special guardians of two children at a final hearing where she successfully opposed the discharge of the special guardianship order and a shared care arrangement.
