Practice overview

Jane’s practice is focused on complex public law cases. She has extensive experience in cases involving non-accidental injuries, sexual abuse, mental health issues (adults and children) and vulnerable clients. Jane represents local authorities, parents, guardians, intervenors and the Official Solicitor.

Jane was appointed as Assistant Coroner for Nottinghamshire in 2012.

Jane was appointed as Assistant Coroner for Rutland and North Leicestershire in 2018.

Recent cases

Representing children, including teenagers, in a number of cases involving serious allegations of physical and sexual abuse.

Representing parents in a number of complex finding of fact hearings. In one recent case, achieving the return of three children to the care of the mother have successfully excluded her from the pool of perpetrators.

Representing the local authority in a complex case involving inter-generational sexual abuse and concurrent criminal proceedings.

Professional background

Jane graduated in Law from Sheffield Hallam University in 2000 and was called to the Bar in 2001. Between 2002 and 2003 she worked in the Child Care Legal Department at Nottingham City Council. She became a tenant at St. Mary’s Chambers in 2004 following successful completion of a specialist family law pupillage.
