Jessica specialises in child care law. She has experience of representing clients with learning difficulties and special needs and has been instructed in complex sexual abuse, non-accidental injury and neglect cases, including High Court cases. She is experienced in leave to remove from the jurisdiction applications.
Jessica’s policy work has included preparing written submissions and giving oral evidence at the House of Commons for the 2007 Commission into Social Work. She was also a contributor to the 2007 Breakdown Britain Report, examining the issue of family breakdown and the role of the voluntary sector.
Jessica graduated in History / Politics from Royal Holloway, University of London in 1997. She was called to the Bar in 2000 and between 2000 and 2001 worked at Middle Temple, London. She undertook a broadly based civil and family law pupillage in 2001 at 22 Old Buildings (now 42 Bedford Row) and joined St. Mary’s Chambers in October 2008. Jessica became Member of Parliament for Erewash in 2010.
